Unpainted Armies
In the past we’ve rarely come up against the entirely unpainted army and have not had to enforce our published policy. This was quite a difficult one in Las Vegas as we knew that in addition to spending money on the tournament ticket, the hobbyist who showed up with an unpainted army was also paying for a hotel room for at least three nights. It is tough to turn away anyone who has laid put that much money.

Unfortunately not enforcing the rules as published caused consternation amongst those who had put in plenty of time on their armies, and rightly so.

As a solution we’re proposing this change to the rules: The first time you bring an unpainted army to a GT you will have two choices. The first is to play with an army we provide and receive only half scores throughout the tournament. The second is to voluntarily leave the event. The second time you bring an unpainted army to a GT you will be turned away, with absolutely no refunds given.

This will mean that those who didn’t read the rules before the event get a very clear message at the show, and will hopefully bring their “A game” to the next Grand Tournament.
